MENGYU “emma" 艾玛 outlines how having a restricted and culturally conservative childhood inhibited Mengyu from freely expressing herself. Although, the revelation of God as the ultimate Creator shifted the trajectory of Mengyu’s photography as she began to appreciate what other people struggled to interpret—leaving insecurities and the fear of being misunderstood behind.

It is a kind reminder to both victims and their support systems that patience and presence go a long way in their non-linear paths to healing.
